Count Your Blessings
/Remembering the Joy in Christmas
We are in the final week of preparation for Christmas. The tree (or trees) is decorated, the stockings are hung, and now you are wrapping presents and finalizing the menu. In the busyness of this season, let’s take a few minutes to calmly sit and focus on the love around us and be grateful for our blessings.
Family and friends
The holiday season looks different for everyone. Maybe you spend it with your family. Others may spend it with friends that they feel are like family. Regardless of who those special people are in your life, be grateful for them. Don’t forget between the presents and the yummy food to share with each of them how much they mean to you.
If this is your first holiday season missing someone special in your life, remember the traditions that you practiced with that person. Continue these in their memory and make this year a celebration in their memory. Find the joy in their memory even when you miss them so dearly.
Sharing your blessings
We at Hardwood Specialties are grateful for another successful year. During this season, each of us makes an effort to share with others in the community. For some people this may be sponsoring someone on the Angel Tree or holiday gift giving request. For others, you can give your time to wrap presents, organize donations, or even distribute those gifts. Remember that when money might be tight, your time is just as valuable. There is always a way that you can bless others.
Set the menu
As you are working to set your menu you may feel stressed. You’re trying to impress someone new this Christmas or maybe you want to make the meal extra special. Regardless of what your concern may be, try not to stress. Your friends and family will most remember the time you spent together, not the food. They are going to be more likely to remember how Uncle John spit mashed potatoes across the room laughing at a joke or how Grandma’s cat climbed the tree and knocked the whole thing over.
